
It's just harder when your trying to figure how others put this system together. I disagree with some comments that say you can't "customize". Whereas when you get a pre-setup build installed, you're kind of inheriting someone else's mess.

So they can be apart of the system building process, so if anything goes wrong, it's much easier to diagnose the problem, because you put the system together. This is why a lot of Linux users over time opt for more minimalist distros. But it's not really going to be any different than any other Linux setup when it comes to performance or functionality.

You gotta understand that all Linux distros are a Linux Kernel, gnu tools, a package manager, some plaintext configs and the whole thing is put together by a single person or a team so when you write the iso image to your usb stick, it brings up a polished, ready to go, "frozen dinner" operating system.
